Young teacher dating former student - Old young hook up

Even after she graduates, there is some stigma to dating a former student. I would say once she turns 21, that would be even better for you. It's not the age difference- I'm 19 and dated a 28 year and it was one of the best relationships I have had- but it can only be bad for your job.On other message boards, most guys feel that women under 24 years old just come with a lot of drama, and under 21 is even worse. If you waited until she was completely out of the college you teach at, it would be one thing. Plus, you don't know if she is using you to further her educational needs.

You could jeopardize your career- even if dating a former student isn't against policy, it's certainly something that could be considered questionable conduct. You don't want you bosses to think you're using the student body (bodies) as a dating pool.If you're a college professor or adjunct, you've obviously worked hard and invested a great deal of time, effort and money into your education. The last thing you need to do is risk all that for a piece of you know what. Please register to participate in our discussions with 1.5 million other members - it's free and quick! Some forums can only be seen by registered members.

I take my job very seriously, and never think to jeopardize my career and reputation. Here's the thing, I have a female student, almost 20, who seems to have quite friendly and a touch the flirty side (you know that impression when you see it).She seems mature and responsible, despite the fact that many are not at 19 or 20. Now, It IS OUT of the question to even considering anything while shes still a student. Technically, you could have lunch with her after graduation, but I wouldn't do anything more with her until more time as gone by.There is that boundary between students and teachers. 27 and 19 is a big age difference, but like I said she seems more mature. Students frequently develop crushes on their teachers. If you truly like her, keep it a platonic friendship for at least a year and make sure it's not just a light student-teacher crush. Now, after the semesters over and final grades have been turned in, then I think its OK to contact someone and see if they want to meet for lunch. And unless you really like her a lot, I don't recommend dating her just for kicks or casually.
